Title: 1904 Worlds Fair Plate From St. Louis
|
| |
Description
1904 was the date of the St. Louis Worlds Fair and this plate appears to be in excellent condition with traces of the original gold backing still intact. The lettering and design are raised in the back of the glass and the lattice work edges are in good condition. In fact, at each union of the glass on the latticework there is a raised or applied flower that retains traces of the original blues and gold. The plate is inscribed Festival Hall & Cascade Gardens. |

Title: Pattern Glass Butterdish with Floral Motif
|
| |
Description
One of the most beloved pieces of glass in collectors views are the butter dishes. This has a floral motif with unusual leaves that has an almost look of cut glass and the quality of the glass itself is very good. No chips or cracks. The piece appears to be 100 plus years of age and there is no damage to the knob of the lid. The detail of this mold is very good, but I am not aware of the pattern name. it came from a fine East Tennessee family that by legend had it in use in 1888, a date that is not unlikely. |

Title: Horn of Plenty Pressed Glass
|
| |
Description
I am not sure what this piece is, but it could be either a small compote, a large buttermilk, some sort of goblet or small honey. There is a beaded design around the base area and there are 3 mold marks. There are no chips or cracks in the piece and it rings like a bell making one think it could be flint and earlier than late 19th century. The glass is fairly thin and the shine is more than just surface. |

Family holidays were always large in years gone by and this center bowl has all the markings of a good decorative object for the dining table. Title: Pattern Glass Center Plate
|
| |
Description
In the late 19th century American manufacturers of pattern glass mimicked cut glass from the brilliant period to make patterns that truly resembled the more expensive cut form. This plate would have been used for sandwiches, fancy cut cakes and all sorts of finger foods. This would easily fool the eye for cut glass. Mold marks are visible upon very close inspection and there are no chips or cracks. |

Title: Millefiore Glass Paperweight
|
| |
Description
Everybody loves pretty glass paperweights and this is certainly an interesting piece. The different layers of the yellows, reds, blues and greens almost resemble cupcake cups stacked on each other all compressed into a star form that is very colorful and appealing. The pontil mark on the bottom and the wear on the base show use and the entire surface has a very few small nicks that make the piece more appealing. This could have been on your Grandparents desk and you just inherited it. A great traditional piece. |

Title: 19th Century Milk Glass Vase
|
| |
Description
Victorians were masters at decorating milk glass. This vase features a raised cartouche in the center of the front that has lattice work and flowers that are faded from age. The lattice work is gold trimmed and the effect is one of really old. Grandmother may not have left you this in her will but you can still own one that is just as good as hers. There is moderate wear to the gold trim and the flowers, but this is over 100 years of age and is still in good condition. |

Title: Victorian Bird Master Salt Dish
|
| |
Description
Victorians loved natural themes, and birds were a major part of their collecting interests. It is hard to say with this broken egg container having edges to resemble cracked shells if this was for serving hard boiled eggs or if it was a clever master salt for a table. Actually, it could be used for either and the exterior of the egg has veins and the top has a cracked or broken pattern molded into the glass. |
